SNILS - a certificate containing information about an individual personal account. This account is used by the FIU to form pension savings. The employer makes deductions for the employee for his future pension.

Step 1
Usually SNILS is drawn up by the first employer. When concluding a contract with an employee, he transfers his data to the FIU, where he subsequently receives SNILS. In this case, the citizen does not need to do anything. The employer himself will hand him SNILS.
Step 2
Often, the need to formalize independently arises among former military men, housewives and those who work "for themselves" (entrepreneurs, lawyers, notaries). Sometimes the employer himself requires SNILS when applying for a job. For self-registration of SNILS, contact the regional branch of the fund. You will be required to fill out a form that contains passport data. You must have a passport with you.
Step 3
If you want to issue SNILS for your child, then you need to contact the FIU with your passport and birth certificate. SNILS for a child can be issued at any time, it is not necessary to do this immediately after birth. Children over 14 years old who have their own passport can apply to the FIU on their own.
Step 4
SNILS is assigned to a citizen for life. If the card is lost, it can always be restored. The number itself will not change. To restore the certificate, you can contact the HR department of your company, or the FIU with an application for a duplicate.
Step 5
When changing the surname (and, accordingly, the passport), SNILS must be replaced. To do this, you need to apply to the FIU with an application for the exchange of SNILS, you must attach a previous certificate to it. In the future, you will be issued a new SNILS with the same number, but with a changed surname.
Step 6
Russians are often interested in whether it is possible to obtain SNILS via the Internet (for example, using the capabilities of the Gosuslugi.ru portal). Unfortunately, this feature has not been implemented at present. The SNILS questionnaire must be certified with a personal signature and registration of the application requires the personal presence of a citizen.
