The news of the upcoming increase in the retirement age has stirred up Russians. The government's statistics on the increase in the life expectancy of men and women are very different from the real figures. In addition, it is difficult, and sometimes scary, to imagine sixty-three year olds and sixty-five year old specialists in some professions
People are deprived of the opportunity to rest in retirement
The deputies have been discussing the issue of raising the retirement age for a long time. Among them there are supporters of this innovation, and there are also ardent opponents. Raising the retirement age will not happen overnight, but they will not delay this procedure too much. Following the first reading, the State Duma adopted a bill on a gradual increase in the retirement age. It was decided that the "machine" will be launched from 2019. According to the new bill, the retirement age for women will start at 63 instead of 55, and for men not 60, but at 65. It is planned to complete the procedure for raising the retirement age by 2028. This bill is supported only by the United Russia faction
Who will the new reform affect in the near future?
As of 2019, the new law will already capture men who were born in 1959 (they will retire 61 years, 2020) and women who were born in 1964 (they will retire 56 years, 2020). For males born after 1959 and females after 1964, 6 months will be added each year. According to Alexander Safonov, the retirement age should be raised for those who are still far from it. But the fact remains. The retirement age is likely to be raised.
Are benefits possible?
There will still be benefits, according to which Russians, workers in industries that are harmful and dangerous to life and health, in the presence of a disability, women with many children (5 and more children), and Chernobyl victims will be able to retire early. A possible change in the period for the onset of the seniority retirement age was agreed. Also earlier, women will be able to retire if their work experience is 40 years and men who have worked for 45 years.
Reasons for raising the retirement age
The main reason for raising the retirement age, according to the government, is the insufficient amount of funds available in the budget of the Pension Fund. In addition, according to Dmitry Medvedev, the life expectancy of Russians has increased to seventy-three years. According to the Prime Minister of the country, it is impossible to postpone the procedure for increasing the retirement age, on the contrary, it is necessary to launch it as soon as possible, since the percentage of the working-age population is decreasing. The balance of the pension system may be upset in the country and the state will have nothing to pay the pension with.
The people are against
The decision to raise the retirement age has been made, the final hearing on the adoption of the law will be held this fall. Only now the government forgot to ask the opinion of its people, who are categorically against such an innovation. Huge rallies and pickets are being held across the country to protest the new reform. According to Russians, an increase in the retirement age dooms people to be left without a pension at all (after all, in reality, life expectancy differs from statistics), there may be cases of living up to retirement in poverty and hunger, since employers already now refuse to hire people of pre-retirement age, and who needs slow, hard-trained, sedentary old people.
Will people be able to reach out to the government? Time will tell.
