Russian developers created the MIR universal payment system a few years ago - in 2014. The reason was the anti-Russian sanctions and the need for financial institutions to introduce their own stable service for bank cards.
By 2018, 59 issuing banks offered MIR cards. More than 100 Russian banks have already serviced such plastic cards in ATMs. Today the system is supported in most terminals, settlement services of online stores.
Thanks to the active introduction of the card by Sberbank of Russia, since 2016, it is possible to withdraw, deposit and transfer cash using the MIR card in almost all terminals and self-service machines in Russia.
"Mobile Bank" as a service is provided by banks in the form of a mobile application and service on the official website. This is a multifunctional personal account of the owner of a plastic card (or bank account), where you can perform many transactions and receive various services. Contacting a bank branch
Connect "Mobile Bank" in a representative office or branch of the bank. Often, managers offer to connect the service when issuing a card to a client at a branch. It is quite possible that in the terms of the contract there is already a mark about the activation of the service. In addition, if before receiving the MIR card you had another plastic card of the same bank to which the Mobile Bank service was already connected, then the service will automatically apply to only the received MIR card and both accounts will be displayed in the corresponding section of the service.
If you have never connected the service before or want to change the linked mobile phone number, just contact the bank office, presenting your card and your passport. This is required to identify you as the owner of the "plastic" for security purposes. The whole procedure, including drawing up an application, will take only 5 minutes.
ATM connection
To activate Mobile Banking through an ATM, you only need a MIR card. The sequence of actions for ATMs and terminals is identical. Insert the card, enter the correct PIN code. Find the “Mobile Bank” tab in the menu and click on the “Cards - Connect” button. Enter your cell phone number and click "Confirm". Everything, the service is connected.
Connection by phone
Sberbank provides an opportunity to connect Mobile Bank by making a call to the call center at +7 800 555-5550. This can only be done if your phone number is included in the agreement for the issuance of a bank card. The operator may ask you to say your passport details, card number and the secret code word that you entered into the contract when receiving the card. Otherwise, a call center consultant can only advise you to contact a bank branch specialist in person.
Connection via website
As of today, Sberbank cannot offer MIR cardholders (and any other plastic cards) the possibility of connecting through a website or a mobile application. this requires identification of the person of the cardholder, as well as of the cell phone.
