Cash on delivery is a method of payment for sending goods by mail upon receipt, often used when ordering from catalogs. Typically 5-10% more than prepayment, so buyers often choose this method to avoid the risk of not receiving their shipment. However, it is not so beneficial for senders, since the recipient can refuse to receive it altogether.

It is necessary

  • - product;
  • - mail box or package;
  • - passport;
  • - money for postage.

Instructions

Step 1

Pack your product in a box or bag, depending on the size and the required degree of preservation (for example, it is better to wrap dvds in a box in a bubble wrap, and put a piece of foam plastic inside the box). Take (or buy) two forms at the post office: one for registration of the parcel, the second for receiving cash on delivery. Fill in your personal and payment information, as well as the recipient's data (name, passport number, address). In the fields "Declared value" and "Cash on delivery" write the amount in words. This amount can be calculated as follows: the cost of the product itself, plus the cost of packaging, plus the cost of shipping, which can be obtained from the postal operator.

Step 2

Give the completed form for the parcel to the operator, put the form for cash on delivery in the parcel (sometimes it is pasted on top). Give the parcel for clearance to the employee, pay the shipping and delivery costs to the recipient. Write down the ID of the parcel, which can be used to track its status on the Russian Post website. It can be sent by e-mail or sent by phone to the recipient.

Step 3

Upon arrival of the parcel at the recipient's post office, a notice will be sent to him. And only when the buyer pays the cash on delivery, he will be given a parcel. Money will come to you by postal order, about which you will receive a notification. However, keep in mind that the recipient has the right to receive the parcel within 30 days from the date of receipt of the notification, so the transfer can take a long time. Also, the recipient can refuse the parcel altogether, then the parcel will return to you, and you will lose money due to the cost of double shipment.
