Sending a parcel or a parcel by cash on delivery, you need to be familiar with the postal rates and the complex payment system that is used in this department. If, for example, you are the owner of an online store and send goods to customers using the mail services, then without the skill of calculating the cost of shipments, you will constantly incur small, but still losses.

Instructions

Step 1

Weigh the item that you are going to send by mail, preferably already packed, and write down its exact (down to grams) weight. Have on hand also the postal code of the addressee of your mailing and the value of the nominal value of the goods being sent (excluding delivery). The declared value of the items will also need to be calculated in advance, since the cost of sending a valuable parcel or parcel post depends on it.

Step 2

Use the automatic rate for domestic or international (depending on where you are going to send the goods) shipments. You can find it on the official website of the Russian Post in the "services and services" section. To get the first amount required for our calculations, select the type of shipment (valuable parcel post or parcel) in the tariffifier window that opens, and also enter the destination code, weight of the shipment and its value.

Step 3

Add 18% to the amount received using the tariffication. In the event that you pay for the shipment in cash, and not with postage stamps (this happens almost always), in addition to the cost itself, according to the tariffs, VAT is also charged. This applies equally to both the shipping cost itself and the insurance fee, which is also calculated in the automatic tariffication system.

Step 4

Consider also two more expense items that you will encounter when sending a valuable parcel or parcel. The first of them is the payment for checking the attachment according to the inventory, the cost of which changes only depending on the region, in the same city it will always be the same. Secondly, the cost of packaging, which you will most likely buy at the same post office from which you send the parcel or parcel. Taken together, all these values will give the total cost of postage, which must be added to the nominal value of the goods and included in cash on delivery, if the shipment is carried out at the expense of the buyer.
