The information contained in the barcode not only characterizes the goods, such coding helps to keep stock records, control the movement of goods within the company. However, in order to put a barcode on your products, you must go through the appropriate procedures.
Barcode for their products
Obtaining an EAN-13 type barcode implies joining the international organization EANCODE. To do this, you first need to fill out an application for membership, according to the established form. Attached to this document is a complete inventory of the products you intend to barcode. The next step is to transfer to EANCODE accounts an entrance fee of 10,000 rubles, plus the cost of maintenance (database support) for the first 12 months - 5,000 rubles. In the future, the fee will only consist of 5,000 rubles annually.
If you want to speed up the procedure for obtaining a code, then you can send both documents - an application, a list of products, payment details to [email protected]. The information you send must be formatted as Word, Excel files (stamps and signatures are not required).
Barcode within the enterprise
The commodity code can also be used for the needs of only your enterprise. In such cases, the first digit should be "2". This prefix means: "for internal use". For example, any hypermarket can independently produce labels with a deuce at the beginning and glue them on products that do not have a manufacturer's barcode. In this case, the structure of the code is determined by the user.
It should be added that in addition to EAN-13, 225 types of bar codes are used in the world. Any enterprise has the right to choose the most suitable code, which has a structure developed by the organization itself. For example, it can be not only the name of the product, but also the name of the department of the enterprise, vehicle, employee accompanying the document. It is convenient to use such a code to automate workflow and internal accounting.
Fastening labels
The marking process is by no means the last in the bar coding system. The readability of the code depends on how the label is correctly attached. The first thing to look at is the quality of the paper. After affixing a print, you must make sure that the ink is dry and you cannot damage the code by accidental touching. When sticking the label, try to avoid deformations, for example, if you need to stick the code on a small jar, you can place it horizontally or at an angle of 270o. Pay attention to the storage conditions of the labeled products - if the air humidity is high, then you should use special waterproof labels.
