Free travel for a pensioner, especially one near Moscow, is a great help, given the constantly increasing cost of travel. Finally, they can use both Moscow transport and suburban transport for free. Andrei Vorobyov, Governor of the Moscow Region, made a proposal, taking into account the wishes of the people. The initiative was also supported by the mayor of the capital Sergei Sobyanin. The number of beneficiaries has now increased to approximately 2.8 million, of which 1.2 million are ordinary pensioners of the Moscow region, without merit, disability and other benefits, the remaining 1.6 million are Muscovites. This is almost twice as many beneficiaries as before. For this measure of social support, about 7.5 billion rubles a year will be spent from the budget.

The benefits apply to all rail travel within the region and within Moscow. To the neighboring regions of the Moscow region, to the terminal stations within six neighboring regions (for example, Vladimir or Tula), travel also does not need to be paid. Travel privileges to other regions do not apply. The benefits are scheduled until December 31, 2021. Subsequently, prolongation is possible.

It became possible to resolve positively this issue, which is urgent for many pensioners, thanks to an increase in the regional budget, i.e. deductions of taxes. The region's budget has grown, large industrial enterprises-taxpayers have appeared and the flow of tax deductions has increased. The prospect of increasing the retirement age also played a role.

Who can ride for free?

In addition to pensioners, almost all other groups of beneficiaries who have used them before, including honorary donors of the Moscow Region, disabled children and children from large families under 18 and their parents, if they receive an education, will be able to use free travel in Moscow's electric trains and ground transport. the privilege lasts until the age of 23 and one of the parents will also be able to travel for free. Naturally, benefits remain with labor veterans, and so on.

How to use the benefit?

In order to travel freely in Moscow or within the region by train, people who have reached retirement age will need to present a social card of a resident of the Moscow region at any Russian Railways ticket office and receive a one-time free ticket.

There is no need to change the social card because of the innovations - after re-coding it will be possible to use it further, but not only in the region, but also in Moscow.

At the time of making a social card for a resident of the Moscow region, if it is not yet available and is only being processed or lost, a pensioner can receive a certificate at the multifunctional service center and present it at the Russian Railways ticket offices to receive free tickets for each trip.
