This year, pensioners of the Moscow Region received a new travel benefit under the Mobile Pensioner project. It concerns the reduced fare on trams, buses, metro and other transport in Moscow.
Where to apply for benefits
The discount is provided free of charge. A pensioner from the Moscow Region must come with a passport and a pension certificate (since 2015, respectively, with a pensioner's certificate issued) to any social protection department in the Moscow Region (or to the department of the center "My Documents"). The provision of benefits is carried out by re-coding the social card, which will ensure the right to free travel.
Features of obtaining a new benefit
If the sixtieth birthday came in September of this year or later, you should contact the social protection department already at the place of residence of the pensioner. This is because a new card may need to be issued.
How to get a social card
If a pensioner near Moscow does not have a social card, you need to take a passport, as well as a document confirming the right to benefits and contact the social protection department (or the My Documents center). A month later, a card will be issued, and for the period of its absence, a certificate will be provided, by presenting which you can also receive a free travel ticket.
Recoding a social card in Moscow
The fastest and most convenient way to get a new benefit for a pensioner is the “automatic recoding method”. A pensioner near Moscow only needs to go with his social card to a special counter of a metro station with exits to railway platforms (for example, Belorusskaya, Varshavskaya, Dmitrovskaya, Komsomolskaya, Krasnogvardeyskaya, Nagatinskaya, Paveletskaya, Partizanskaya, Petrovsko-Razumovskaya, Ploshchad Ilyich, Savelovskaya, Rizhskaya, Rimskaya, Timiryazevskaya, Fili, Chkalovskaya, Electrozavodskaya, Yuzhnaya) and within a few seconds the card will be recoded.
Refusal to grant benefits
If the authenticity of the documents is in doubt, a complete package of documents for obtaining benefits has not been prepared, and so on, in this case, the social protection department may refuse to provide benefits. It is recommended to appeal such refusals within 3 months from the date of their receipt. To do this, you can apply not only to the court, the prosecutor's office, the head of the district and other bodies, it is desirable first of all to go to an appointment with the documents to the head or his authorized deputies of the protection department at the place of residence of the pensioner. Practice shows that a refusal is not always justified and legal.
