Step 1
To verify the authenticity, you must write a sixteen-digit number on the face of your credit card.
Step 2
Next, you need to double every odd digit of the credit card number. It should be noted that it is the odd digits of the number that need to be multiplied, and not the numbers that are odd in the number. Also, if as a result of multiplication two-digit numbers are obtained (more than 9), then it is necessary to add the constituent numbers to obtain a single-digit one (for example: the number 17 is represented as 1 and 7, and then we add 1 + 7 = 8).
Step 3
Add up all the doubled odd digits of the credit card number.
Step 4
Now you need to add to the sum of the doubled digits those that did not double, that is, the even digits of the card number. If the resulting number is a multiple of 10, that is, it will be divisible by 10 without a remainder, the credit card you are checking is genuine.
Step 5
If the amount received is not a multiple of 10, then you need to contact the bank branch where this card was issued and find out why this check is not performed. Perhaps the credit card is defective, that is, it is some kind of mistake by the bank branch, or it is possible that you have become a victim of scammers. This method is suitable for all types of credit cards: Visa, MasterCard, Maestro, it was specially developed so that any owner of a credit card could check the authenticity at home and, if necessary, contact the appropriate bank branches.
