Genuine dollars have blotches of color that can be felt. On counterfeit banknotes, they are only traced, and if you slide your finger over them, you will not feel their bulge.

To completely protect yourself from the risk of buying counterfeit dollars, you should contact a bank branch or exchange office, where banknotes will be checked for authenticity using a bank detector.
