Oil is a fossil substance that is an oily, flammable liquid. Oil deposits are found at depths ranging from several tens of meters to 5-6 kilometers. Now the question of oil production from space is acute
Reserve forecasts
According to experts' forecasts, oil reserves on Earth will come to an end in the next 70-100 years, and scientists are already looking for an alternative to "black gold". True, there are those among them who believe that in the future humanity will be able to produce the same oil in space.
Titanium
According to the information received from the NASA Cassini probe, which has been studying Titan for several years, there are huge reserves of hydrocarbons in its depths, many times exceeding the earth's.
Titan is one of the most interesting space objects in our solar system. It is 1.5 times the size of the Moon and more than 80 percent heavier. Also, Titan, unlike most other uninhabited planets and satellites, has a dense atmosphere, almost entirely composed of nitrogen. By the way, the earth's atmosphere is also 78% nitrogen and is not so different from titanium. The air pressure on the moon of Saturn is again similar to that of the earth and exceeds it by only 1.5 times.
However, the most important similarity between Titan and our planet is the presence of seas, rivers and lakes on its surface. True, instead of water, they contain gas methane, but there is real water on the moon of Saturn. Its exact amount is unknown, only the fact is known that it is in a frozen state. This is explained quite simply - in view of the great distance from the Sun, the temperature on the surface of Titan varies greatly during the day and can even drop to -180 degrees Celsius. It is worth noting that, despite such temperature drops, scientists believe Titan is the most suitable space body after Earth for the existence of life.
All this makes Titan the most suitable planet for the creation of space bases and possible future colonization. Hydrocarbon reserves will last for hundreds, if not thousands of years, and bases built deep underground will save from low temperatures. It is believed that already at a depth of a couple of kilometers, the temperature will be quite suitable for habitation. There is also a possibility that water in a liquid state may be at the same depth. You can get oxygen on Titan in the same way as on the ISS. Thus, there is every reason to believe that in the next hundreds of years there will be more one inhabited planet (even a satellite) in the solar system. In the future, Titan can become a kind of supplier of the most important natural resources necessary for the Earth.
Satellite development
Roskosmos will begin the development of the Kondor-FKA-M satellite intended for oil prospecting. The launch of the spacecraft is scheduled for 2025, which requires changes to the current Federal Space Program, Izvestia reports.
In the Federal Space Program until 2025, only two of the three satellites of the Kondor-FKA series, which are manufactured by NPO Mashinostroyenia, are indicated. These spacecraft are planned to be launched in 2019-2020, the total project budget is three billion rubles. The third device should become a modernized version of the "Condor-FKA". Radar satellites emit sounding pulses and record signals reflected from the Earth, which ensures high quality of imaging (up to several centimeters per pixel), as well as, depending on the wavelength used, the determination of the soil structure at depths of several tens of meters. Currently, the Russian civilian and military orbital group does not have a single operational radar satellite.
