A patent is the best way to protect intellectual property rights in an invention, industrial design, or utility model. The cost of any patent consists of two components: government fees and legal services. There is no specific cost for the patenting procedure. Both meanings depend on what kind of intellectual property you intend to patent.

To calculate the cost of a patent for an invention, take into account several factors: the complexity of the patent object, the scale of the patent data search, the number of intellectual property objects subject to research, the volume of sections in the international patent classification, and so on.

Pay state duties in accordance with Article 1249 of the Civil Code and the Regulation "On Patenting" approved by the Government of the Russian Federation. Keep in mind that for each separate type of intellectual property there are specific amounts of state fees. If you apply for a patent for an invention, its registration will cost you 1200 rubles, for an industrial design patent - 600 rubles, and for a patent for a utility model - 600 rubles.
Step 3
If you are not a resident of the Russian Federation, then you will have to pay several times more for registering a patent of the Russian Federation. So, for an invention a patent will cost 5400 rubles, for a utility model - 2700 rubles and for an industrial design - also 2700 rubles. In addition, remember that for each additional item or formula in the invention, you will pay extra from 60 to 810 rubles, depending on the type of property and your belonging to the residents of the Russian Federation.

Also, when calculating the cost, keep in mind that it also includes the following mandatory services:
- detailed patent search, which allows you to determine if there are no analogues to your invention, and is estimated at 28 thousand rubles;
- state fees: formal examination of the correctness of the preparation of a set of documents - 1200 rubles; main examination, checking the uniqueness of the patentable invention - 1,800 rubles; registration and issuance of a patent - 2,400 rubles.
Step 5
Please note that when you make any changes (for example, adjusting the application for an invention), renewal, preparation of objections to the expert opinion, issuance of duplicate patents, the cost of registration may increase. To be guided even by approximate figures, remember that patenting an invention usually costs 40 thousand rubles, a utility model - 35 thousand rubles, and an industrial design - 38 thousand rubles.
