Even in times of total shortage, Russian women managed to dress beautifully and fashionably, thanks to the ability to sew things on their own or to order. True, good material could not always be bought then either. Today, when stores offer the widest selection of excellent quality fabrics, many also prefer to sew outfits for themselves, rather than buy ready-made ones.

Jacquard

This is a fabric that is created using a special technology, and due to the unique interweaving of threads of different colors, texture patterns are woven on its surface, as a rule, rather complex and varied. This technology was invented by a hereditary weaver from France, Josephre Jacquard, who designed a loom for patterned weaving in 1808. The pattern on the surface resembles luxurious exquisite lace, due to this, jacquard is an ornament in itself.

The texture of this fabric is dense, it can have a small or large pattern, be one- or two-layer. Its density is determined by the density of the threads from which it is woven. But the structure of the fabric is such that the twisted loops that compose it do not allow the material to unravel, even with puffs and snags. Due to its rather complex weaving, this fabric is perfectly draped, very flexible. It allows any thing to fit "according to the figure", even when there are small flaws in the pattern design. In addition to all this, jacquard is durable, keeps its shape perfectly for a long time, and is resistant to numerous washes and high temperatures.

From such a luxurious material, you need to sew things of a simple cut that do not distract from the beauty of the fabric itself. If the garment is combined, then as a partner fabric, only a smooth monochromatic material is used that matches the color of one of the jacquard tones. Such clothing requires a minimum of parts, fittings and accessories, as well as jewelry. And keep in mind that a thing made of jacquard always looks elegant, even if it is intended for everyday wear.

Double weave jacquard is the most suitable material for tailoring a strict case dress, tulip skirt, vest, elegant jacket or cardigan. From such a dense fabric, you can sew a light coat or short skinny trousers. A variety of dresses will be made from less dense material - with a fitted, laconic top and a skirt of a straight silhouette, or gathered at the waist with beautiful large folds. A dress for summer with an open back, shorts or light stylish trousers with side slits at the bottom will adorn the wardrobe of any fashionista. For work, you can sew a strict closed dress, which will emphasize a slender figure and, due to the patterns on the fabric, hide its minor flaws, if any. If combined with other fabrics, it is better to use jacquard for individual parts of a dress or for sewing bodices, to which fluffy skirts made of light airy fabrics are sewn.
