Step 1

The market of the Russian Federation today is overflowing with a variety of products, both domestic and imported. But do we always know what we are really buying for use? What will be the consequences of using this product in our everyday life or food? Is the quality of the products sold and their safety guaranteed for our health and life? Answers to all these questions are given by such a legally regulated procedure as certification of goods for compliance with GOST R and TR, the foundations of which were laid by the Law of the Russian Federation "On Protection of Consumer Rights".

Step 2

The result of the inspection is a certificate of conformity issued for this product. This document must be provided to the buyer purchasing the goods at his first request. For goods that are subject to mandatory certification (all products for children, items for medical and hygienic use, food and some others that are defined by Government Resolutions), the presence of such a certificate means compliance with all norms and requirements.

Step 3

Products for which certification is not mandatory can be certified on a voluntary basis. In any case, if the buyer was presented with such a document, he can be sure of the quality of the purchased goods. And not only in quality, because before certification, products, if necessary, must receive a sanitary and epidemiological conclusion (replaced in 2010 by a certificate of state registration) or a fire safety certificate.

Step 4

If the purchased product during its use did not confirm its quality (a breakdown occurred, the expiration date passed at the time of sale and similar situations), you should contact the local branch of the Society for the Protection of Consumer Rights with a complaint. The result may be a replacement product or a refund if it turns out that the sale of a low-quality product really took place.
