They also counterfeit 500, 100 and even 50 and 10 ruble bills, but their share of counterfeits in the total mass does not exceed 10%. Check the surface of the bill. The first sign that you have a counterfeit in your hands is the smooth paper on which the banknote is printed. The surface of the bill should be rough and embossed.

Please note that the technology of manufacturing genuine banknotes involves "welding" a security thread into the paper. Counterfeiting statistics show that counterfeiters have not yet mastered this technology to perfection. The security thread is a distinctive feature of the authenticity of the bill. Make sure that the silver thread (which is also the security thread) is tightly stitched through the sheet of the banknote.

Check the readability of the small print on the banknote. Modern rubles, made using polymer thread, contain the text "CBR", made by microprinting. Flip the bill over and look at the protective mesh on the back. Remember that on the original the watermark is unevenly distributed, while on the fake the watermark is solid and darker than required. Also take a look at the coat of arms of Yaroslavl. "Purple bears" should change their color to brownish-greenish in the light.

Remember that the bill must have micro-perforation, which must be smooth to the touch on both sides if the bill is genuine. If you are holding a counterfeit banknote, you will feel roughness on one side. If you find a counterfeit banknote, hand it over to the nearest branch of Sberbank. After the examination, the bank will give you a real banknote, and destroy the fake one.
