Step 1
You will need at least two rooms: one for a workshop, the other for receiving visitors. It is advisable to provide a separate storage space. It is not recommended to be located in residential buildings because of the noise generated during the work of the craftsmen and possible complaints from the tenants. The workshop itself may be located separately from the point of receiving orders. The latter should be decorated with taste and organically "weave" product samples into the interior. The proximity to exhibition galleries, art salons, gift shops has a beneficial effect on the business image.
Step 2
To equip a baguette workshop, you will need a machine for cutting blanks for frames (guillotine), a machine for fastening strips, staplers for fixing a picture to a frame. To create ornaments, special saws are required, imported from abroad, the purchase of which costs several thousand dollars. The assortment should contain at least several dozen baguettes. Manufacturers present their products at the annual professional exhibition in Bologna.
Step 3
The workshop staff must have at least one framing master with at least two years of work experience, supervising three or four assistants. Among them may be specialists with the education of a cabinetmaker or restorer. There are only a few examples of courses in framing art. It is advisable to have a designer with an art education on the staff. You will also need an administrator to receive orders and an accountant.
Step 4
The target customers of the framing workshop are regular customers with regular orders. These are women who are engaged in embroidery, artists, designers, photographers. Therefore, it is imperative to build a good reputation with customers and maintain it at a high level.
