Many businessmen in Russia complain about the difficulties associated with starting and running a business. Of course, some of the problems of this kind are "international", but there are also purely Russian nuances that complicate the life of entrepreneurs. The presence of these problems hinders not only the development of specific initiatives, but also the entire economy of the country, therefore, their solution is an important state task.
At all times and in all countries, entrepreneurs have experienced certain difficulties in doing business. In some cases, these problems were associated with crime, in others - with aggressive government policies, and in others - with a lack of personnel and poor management.
Business specifics in Russia
As for the Russian Federation, the very concept of business appeared here relatively recently, because after the restructuring and change of the political system, a little more than two decades have passed. Naturally, the formation of sustainable business models with an eye to national characteristics has not yet been completed. In addition, the economic situation in the country has become stable only in the last few years, and until then the country was experiencing financial crises and political turmoil, which especially strongly affected small and medium-sized businesses.
Only two percent of its inhabitants consider Russia a favorable country for starting their own business. For comparison, in America this figure is close to seventy percent.
Today, entrepreneurs themselves identify several main problems that hinder the successful development of a business. Paradoxically, but first of all, businessmen complain about the lack of trained and qualified workers, which forces them to spend additional funds on staff training. The second place in the list of difficulties is occupied by a poorly controlled rise in prices for goods and services. In conditions of unpredictable inflation, it is difficult to do business, take out loans, make financial forecasts and plan long-term investments.
Business and government are the main problems
Businessmen are equally dissatisfied with administrative barriers, high taxes and high levels of corruption. Moreover, if the tax policy of the state is nevertheless amenable to comprehension, then problems with licensing and regulatory authorities, as well as unscrupulous officials automatically make running a "transparent" business unprofitable. As a result, not only entrepreneurs suffer, but also the state, from whose control business is trying to get out.
Many of these problems are partly related to insufficiently professional public administration, both at the federal and local levels. The fact is that not all officials who make certain decisions regarding entrepreneurship are well versed in the real needs and problems of domestic business. Insufficient efficiency of the state in solving current issues only adds to the headache for businessmen, especially in the context of dynamically developing technologies and a rapidly changing market situation.
In the period from 2008 to 2013, more than half a million people were convicted for crimes related to entrepreneurial activity in Russia.
Nevertheless, even in such conditions, many businessmen in Russia do business and make high profits, and this does not require breaking the law at all. After all, business has always been a territory of risk, in which only those who were not afraid to face problems and troubles succeeded. Of course, many entrepreneurs would prefer to work not in conditions of constant opposition from the state, regulatory authorities and criminals, but the current state of affairs does not seem hopeless to them.
