Coins are metal banknotes, moreover, of a smaller denomination than paper bills. This is their main function. But over time, coins become a commodity. They are sold and bought, certain specimens are searched for and collected. Some banks also accept both old and more modern coins, and no longer at par.
Instructions
Step 1
Determine which coin you want to sell: old, rare, another state, tsarist, Soviet or CIS times, modern Russian.
Step 2
Walk through the offices of banks you know, paying attention to the stands. If the bank is buying coins, there will definitely be an announcement about this with a list of accepted coins and their value. This option is the most reliable (after all, you yourself will not miss anything from the information that interests you), but it takes a lot of time.
Step 3
Call all available banks with questions:
1) whether they accept coins at all;
2) if accepted, which ones;
3) what will be the purchase price of your particular coin.
The disadvantage of this method is that by phone you may be given either not entirely correct information, or even completely incorrect information. But there is also an undoubted plus - it saves time.
Step 4
Search the Internet for the official websites of banks. And then on each of them narrow your search, look for specific information about buying and selling coins. For example, NOMOS-BANK offers on its website a whole section dedicated to this issue, as well as Sberbank of Russia. This method is very convenient. But keep in mind that not all banks promptly update data on the Internet. And such a service as accepting coins may not be reflected on the site at all, although in reality it may exist.
Step 5
Do not rush to the very first bank, in the shopping list of which you will find exactly your coin. Study the demand slowly and calmly, analyze the prices. Don't be too cheap, because then no one will return it to you. You can view the price offer of several banks on a specialized website. On it, you can select a specific coin (that is, in the drop-down lists you select the denomination, category, year of issue, metal, country) and add your city. A list of banks that accept it, along with the prices of each of them, will immediately appear. This is perfect and the site is amazing. But do not forget that this list may be incomplete or not entirely correct. Those who collect this data may well be missing something.
Step 6
If you consider your coins to be rare and expensive, sell them at auction or even directly to a private collection. To do this, look at ads from individuals both on the Internet and in newspapers. Also post relevant ads yourself. List coins at multiple auctions.
