In January 2011, the notorious creator of the MMM financial pyramid Sergey Mavrodi announced the creation of a new project. This time, the financier changed his tactics, bluntly stating that his business model is a "pyramid" and carries financial risks. Since the creation of MMM-2011, more than 30 million people have taken part in the project, according to various estimates. How did Mavrodi manage to revive his brainchild?
On January 10, 2011 Sergey Mavrodi made a sensational statement. In his blog, he launched a new large-scale campaign called MMM-2011. This time the abbreviation MMM stands for its founder as "We Can Do Much". In order to immediately exclude accusations of deceiving future investors, the creator of the famous pyramid of the 90s immediately stated directly that his project is a financial pyramid, money may not be returned, and also did not recommend everyone to immediately take part in MMM-2011. This tactic makes it difficult to prove that Mavrodi's actions are fraudulent.
Mavrodi regularly began posting information on the structure of the new organization and on the progress of measures to restore the MMM on the pages of his blog. The novelty of the idea is that in the new project there are so-called “foremen” and “centurions”, and payments are made to each other by the system participants themselves, without the participation of the head. Thus, Mavrodi tried in some way to absolve himself of responsibility for the results of the activities of his brainchild.
The essence of the pyramid, however, has not changed: to participate, you need to become a contributor to MMM-2011 and patiently wait for the system to work out huge interest for you. Another idea by Sergei Mavrodi is also built on the classic "Ponzi scheme", in which the income of the system participants is entirely made up of the contributions of new members. It is easy to predict what will happen when those wanting to get rich quickly run out.
Sergei Mavrodi still considers his new project to be completely invulnerable, indestructible and unsinkable. It should be clarified that the first version of MMM in the mid-90s of the last century with a scandal was closed by law enforcement agencies, leaving most of the depositors without money. Mavrodi was hiding from justice for a long time, but in the end he was detained and sentenced to 5 years in prison. After serving his term, the great strategist returned to his former activities.
To revive the activity of MMM, its creator was helped by all the same human weaknesses: greed, greed and the desire to get rich quickly at the expense of others. According to the organizers and leaders of the pyramid, at the end of May 2012 more than 35 million contributors are taking part in the project. Most of them, obviously, are relatively young people who do not remember the sensational history of MMM and did not face financial problems.
