The total cost of construction, calculated in the estimate, will be incomplete without taking into account the costs of carrying out design work and preparing design documentation. This basic construction phase also requires an estimate. However, the question of how to make a design estimate is often perplexing.

Instructions

Step 1

The greatest difficulty in drawing up a design estimate is the calculation of the cost of design work and the preparation of design documentation.

Step 2

When calculating the final cost of preparing project documentation, they rely on the base price of project documentation, which includes the construction project itself and additional working documentation. The base price is determined by the total cost of the upcoming construction, as well as the degree of complexity of the projected facility.

Step 3

To determine the price of design documentation, price tables are used, tables are selected depending on the purpose of the designed objects. The final cost of design documentation should include all types of design work for the entire volume of construction being carried out, all structures included in the project.

Step 4

To calculate the current cost of design work, it is necessary to multiply the base price of design documentation of the corresponding type, which we obtain from the reference tables, by the inflation rate corresponding to the time of design work.

Step 5

If, when drawing up a design estimate, you are faced with a situation where the cost of building a projected object falls between the indicators in the table, interpolation is used to calculate the base price of the design documentation. If the cost of construction of a projected object exceeds the maximum cost in the calculation tables, or turns out to be less than the minimum, then the extreme value (maximum or minimum given in the table, respectively) is taken as the base price, while extrapolation is not performed.

Step 6

If there is such a need and by the joint decision of the design organization and the customer, the total cost of design work can be distributed among the design stages.
