In the Russian Federation, the pension system is based on the payment of insurance pension contributions. To do this, each citizen must have a certificate of pension insurance, in which his individual personal account is fixed. This account keeps records of information about incoming funds, which will later become the basis for calculating the labor pension.

Instructions

Step 1

When applying for a job, the employee must provide a certificate of pension insurance (SNILS) to the employer. If it is not there as a result of its loss or it was not issued to you at the last place of work, then you will need to issue it. Based on the law "On individual registration in the compulsory pension insurance system", your employer is obliged to issue a certificate of compulsory pension insurance for you. To do this, you need to carefully fill out an established form. All data entered in the form are certified by your personal signature. The employer submits it to the Pension Fund for consideration. If the territorial office does not have any complaints about the questionnaire, then within three weeks they will send your employer a pension insurance card, which confirms your registration in the compulsory pension insurance system (OPS).

Step 2

If you want to get SNILS for your child, then for this you need to contact the Pension Fund branch at the place of your registration with documents that prove the identity of one of the parents and the child (birth certificate) and write the corresponding questionnaire. Within three weeks, the FIU must open a personal account and issue a certificate of pension insurance for your child.

Step 3

You are obliged to change SNILS in the event that your personal data (initials, surname, gender, etc.) have changed. The Pension Fund, one month from the date of receipt of the application from the policyholder, makes a decision to exchange or refuse to exchange the insurance certificate. In this case, only your personal data is changed, but the insurance number of an individual personal account remains for life. In case of loss or damage of SNILS, contact the territorial division of the Pension Fund with a statement (through your employer or by personal appeal). Within about a month, your application will be considered and a duplicate of the pension insurance certificate will be issued.

Step 4

Foreign citizens are also entitled to receive a compulsory pension insurance card. In accordance with Art. 7 FZ of December 15, 2001 No. 167-FZ "On compulsory pension insurance in the Russian Federation", in addition to citizens of the Russian Federation, insured persons also include foreign citizens and stateless persons permanently or temporarily residing in the Russian territory.
