Coins, minted in limited series for significant and anniversary dates, reflect the brightest moments in the history of the state. They become collectible even at the time of their release into circulation and their real value, thanks to the interest of numismatists, can exceed the face value by tens, hundreds and even thousands of times. Commemorative coins of the USSR, issued in 1967, are unique.
1967 commemorative coins
The first coins, which were minted in the USSR specifically for the 20th anniversary of Victory in the Great Patriotic War, appeared in April 1965. The next large-scale date that the Soviet people were preparing to celebrate was the fiftieth anniversary of the Great October Socialist Revolution that took place in 1917. This was indeed the largest event in Soviet history, so it was decided to issue not one coin, in denominations of 1 ruble, as it was in 1965, but several coins from a copper-nickel alloy, in denominations: 10, 15, 20, 50 kopecks and 1 ruble.
Since 1977, commemorative coins in the USSR began to be minted annually, using a new improved manufacturing technology called "Proof". These are coins with a mirrored background and frosted design details.
It was a unique series, which was never repeated again, since placing a drawing on coins of a smaller denomination than 1 ruble seemed to be a rather complicated technical matter. On the ruble coin there was an image of the leader of the revolution - V. I. Lenin, whose hand was raised in a characteristic gesture indicating the direction to a brighter future. The coins were not intended for collecting, it was assumed that they would be in circulation along with the usual ones, therefore their quality was no different from the rest. Most of the coins that have survived to this day are so-called "walkers" and their collection value is low.

What determines the value of commemorative coins of 1967
If you collect coins and want to buy a series issued for the 50th anniversary of the Soviet Power, its cost will depend on many factors. One of them is the circulation, the larger it is, the lower the cost of the coins. In this case, the circulation was quite large. Those coins that were passed from hand to hand or were stored along with ordinary coins in piggy banks are not very well preserved and many small details on them can be erased. In this state, the entire series of coins issued in 1967 can cost you cheap - from 200 to 300 rubles. If you buy a set of coins sealed and sealed in polyethylene in good condition, its price starts from 500 rubles. The value of coins increases significantly if errors and inconsistencies caused by human factors are found on them, but so far no such cases have been found in relation to the 1967 series.
