Tax deductions are provided for people buying housing or paying for education. However, the situation can be more difficult if the person claiming the deduction does not work.
It is necessary
- - tax declaration;
- - passport;
- - a document confirming the right to a tax deduction;
- - certificate on the form 2-NDFL.
Instructions
Step 1
Get a tax deduction if you recently retired and left your job. According to the updated Russian legislation, you have the right to transfer tax deductions for the acquisition of property or tuition fees for the previous three years. That is, if you purchased a home in 2012 and retired from work in 2011, then the required deduction can be carried over and paid to you from the income you received in 2010. For questions about the specifics of filling out a tax return for processing such payments, contact the tax authority at your place of residence.
Step 2
For people who have not worked before, there is also an opportunity to get back some of the money spent on the purchase of housing. They can issue a deduction for income that will be received in the future. For example, if an unemployed person buys an apartment in 2012, and the next year, 2013, he finds a job and begins to receive a salary taxed at 13% tax, then in the spring of 2014 he will be able to file a declaration for a deduction.
Step 3
If you did not receive 13% taxable income three years before buying your home and did not find a job for three years after that, then you lose the right to the deduction.
Step 4
To get a deduction, contact the tax authority to file a declaration. You must have a package of documents with you: an agreement for the sale and purchase of housing, an agreement with a construction company indicating the cost of work (if you are building a house), an agreement for the provision of paid educational services. Your salary will need to be confirmed by a 2-NDFL certificate obtained from the accounting department of your organization. Give all papers and the completed tax return to the tax officer. After that, a portion of the income tax paid by your employer will be refunded to the bank account you specified.
Step 5
If you purchased property as a joint property, issue a deduction for the one who works at the same time. For example, this is true in the case of spouses purchasing an apartment.
Step 6
When working parents pay for your tuition, advise them to apply for and receive a tax deduction.
