Step 1
If your bank provides customers with the opportunity to find out the balance on the card using SMS, the corresponding instruction is usually on its website. It may also be contained in the documents that you received when opening the card or connecting the corresponding service package (this can be done both when opening the card, or later, the SMS informing service may also be provided by default). If there is such an instruction, in it you can easily find a short number to which you need to send a message, the text that it should contain and tariffs for this service for subscribers of various cellular operators.
Step 2
Create SMS according to the instructions of your bank. It can be a specific text (for example, "balance" in Russian or Latin letters) or just an empty message. Send it to the short number indicated in the same instruction. You will receive a reply from the bank's SMS-informer within a few minutes.

If your bank does not provide information on the account balance by SMS at your request, it is possible that you still have the opportunity to receive SMS notifications about each transaction (operation) on your account. By the way, as of the end of 2011, this option was encountered on the banking services market in the Russian Federation more often than informing about the account balance by SMS request. This service is usually paid. More often, there is an option when a small monthly subscription fee is charged for it. An alternative is to purchase a package of SMS notifications. There are also options when SMS-informing is automatically included in the cost of a package of banking services.
Step 4
You can activate this service both immediately upon opening the card, and later at any convenient time. Most often, this can be done in several ways: by contacting the bank in person, through a call center or in Internet banking. After activating the service, after each crediting or debiting of funds on your card, you will receive an SMS notification with information on how much money was debited or credited and what is the available account balance.
