If you bought a home with a mortgage, you are entitled to a tax deduction on the interest paid on the entire amount. To obtain it, you must contact the tax office with a package of necessary documents. This must be done after each year in which you paid interest on the mortgage agreement.
It is necessary
- - declaration in the form of 3NDFL;
- - confirmation of the income for the year and the tax paid from it (2NDFL certificate, receipts for self-payment of tax, etc.);
- - certificates of ownership of housing;
- - a mortgage lending agreement with a bank;
- - printout from the bank with the division of payments into mortgage interest and other components. On its basis, both you and the tax officials will be able to calculate the amount of interest paid;
- - confirmation of mortgage payments throughout the year (checks, receipts, payment orders). Only the amount that you actually paid will be deducted, and not the amount that you should have, but for some reason did not contribute.
Instructions
Step 1
Collect a package of required documents. It is also useful to save all papers relating to relations with the bank in case of controversial situations in interaction with it, including within three years after the execution of the loan agreement (this time is the limitation period).
Confirmation of income received through a tax agent and taxes paid is a certificate on the 2NDFL form. The rest of the income and the tax paid from it are confirmed by documents, depending on the situation.
Step 2
Based on the available documents, fill out the 3NDFL declaration. The best way to do this is to use the Declaration program, which can be downloaded for free on the website of the Main Research Computing Center (GNIVTS) of the Federal Tax Service of Russia.
The interface of the program is simple, and all the information regarding the sources of income and deductions that you need to enter contains your supporting documents.
Save the finished declaration to your computer, print and sign.
Step 3
Write in your tax application for a property tax deduction on your mortgage interest.
In it, you can immediately indicate the method of tax refund in case of a positive decision: to a bank account (in this case, indicate its details) or through a tax agent (indicate which one, with all its details).
In the second option, the tax office will issue you a notification, on the basis of which the tax agent will not withhold personal income tax from your income until the state, thus, completely settles with you.
Step 4
Take the finished package of documents to the tax office in person or send it by mail.
For a personal visit, make a copy of the entire package and ask it to be marked as accepted.
Send the papers by mail in a security letter with a list of attachments and a return receipt.
