An enterprise in a market economy is the main link in social production. It is a separate business unit that is created to achieve a specific goal - as a rule, this is the receipt of income. All businesses vary in size.
Instructions
Step 1
Determining the size of a business is fairly simple. In accordance with Russian standards, they are divided into small, medium and large. Large enterprises, as a rule, specialize in the production of standard products in mass quantities, due to which they achieve leadership in the fight against competitors. Medium-sized enterprises most often specialize in the production of narrow-purpose products. They maintain their position in the market thanks to the possession of unique technologies. Small businesses usually manufacture products that introduce various innovations.
Step 2
The size of an enterprise can be determined if the number of its employees is known. Small businesses are those that employ 50 or fewer people. The average includes those with 50-500 employees. Enterprises with more than 500 workers are considered large. At the same time, especially large enterprises are singled out into a separate group - over 1000 employees.
Step 3
The number of employees is the most appropriate indicator for determining the size of enterprises. It is very closely related to their industry affiliation. As a rule, ferrous metallurgy and mechanical engineering enterprises are large and very large. Mainly medium-sized enterprises operate in the light and food industries, and medium and small enterprises in the woodworking and sewing industries. The leading role in the national economy belongs to large enterprises, despite the fact that their number is small. In Russia, the main share of the economy is occupied by small and medium-sized enterprises.
Step 4
The criterion for determining the size of an enterprise can also be the volume of products or services produced. It is commonly used to classify procurement and trade organizations.
Step 5
At the present time, a huge support is provided to small businesses. In addition to the number of employees, there are other criteria for classifying enterprises as small. In their authorized capital, the share of entities that do not belong to small businesses (legal entities and government organizations) should not exceed 25%.
