Instructions
Step 1
Determine what types of detective services you will provide your clients. An exhaustive list of the types of activities that you have the right to provide to citizens is set out in the law on private detective and security activities. The most popular type is the search for missing persons.
Step 2
Contact the internal affairs body at your place of residence, having previously collected a package of documents. Fill out a special form and application for opening an agency. Prepare two 4x6 cm photographs.
Step 3
Attach to the documents a photocopy of your passport, copies of documents proving that you have special legal education or a certificate of passing special training to work as a detective. There is no need to undergo additional training if you have documented work experience in investigative or operational units for at least three years.
Step 4
Pass the medical commission and attach to the documents a certificate of fitness for detective and security activities for health reasons. You will also need certificates from neuropsychiatric and narcological dispensaries confirming that you are not registered with these institutions. Attach a receipt for payment of the state fee to the documentation.
Step 5
In the department for licensing and permitting work of the internal affairs body, they will also require information about the means of communication, special and other technical means that you intend to use in detective activities. Assess your needs for such funds in advance and provide estimates in writing.
Step 6
After reviewing your documents, the internal affairs bodies will issue a license for the right to engage in private detective activity. Register your detective agency with the tax authority, follow the appropriate types of accounts. After that, you have every right to start your professional activity.
Step 7
Consider placing an agency. Your office should be personable, as the client's trust in you as a professional depends on the first impression. It is possible that over time, as your customer base expands, you will need qualified assistants. When selecting staff, pay attention to analytical skills and experience in working with people.
