In most cases, sick leave benefits are paid at the place of work of the employee, otherwise, of the insured person. Moreover, employees must receive benefits for temporary disability due to illness or injury, not only directly during the period of work, but also within 30 days from the moment when the dismissal occurred. This also applies to maternity or pregnancy benefits.

Instructions

Step 1

Please note that whether the dismissal was voluntary or disciplinary does not affect the award and payment of benefits. The duration of the illness also does not affect whether the benefit is paid.

Step 2

Consider a simple example: an employee quit on July 31st. After that, he was ill twice: from 7 to 21 August, and from 29 August to 14 September. For the last place of work, he provided the employer with two sheets of incapacity for work. On their basis, he should be credited and paid an allowance. Please note that in this situation, the employee must be paid benefits until September 14 inclusive, since both the first and second insured events occurred within thirty days from the date of the employee's dismissal.

Step 3

Also, remember that benefits are not always paid by your previous employer. In that situation, if by the time the dismissed employee applied, the employer had already ceased its activities or the dismissal occurred due to the closure of the institution, the payment of benefits is carried out by the territorial body of the Social Insurance Fund. To receive benefits in this body, submit an income statement, work book or certificate from the place of work, an application and the sick leave itself. Within 10 days, the employees of the territorial authority will count and pay you the allowance. You can receive it in the Fund itself, or in the way that you indicated earlier in the application.

Step 4

Also keep in mind that the employee has the right to present sick leave for payment within six months after its closure, and not just immediately after recovery. Remember that you are obligated to pay benefits to the laid-off worker even after such a long period.

Step 5

For part-time workers who fell ill within a month from the date of dismissal, you are also required to charge sick leave payments. This is carried out at each place of work, according to the same procedure as for the main workers. The difference is that a sick leave is issued and presented for payment at each former place of work.
