On May 17-20, 2012, the IX Banking Innovation and Development Summit was held in Brussels. It has been held since 2004, initiated by the group of companies "Center for Financial Technologies". The summit is supported by the world's leading innovative companies.

The topic of the 2012 Summit is “Banking Business in Russia and in the World: Strategies in the Context of Continuous Changes”. The event brought together over 190 representatives of high-tech companies and banks from Europe, North America, Russia and the CIS countries.

Participants listened to more than twenty reports of international experts in three days. They also discussed many issues related to improving the efficiency of banks in a dynamic market.

The following main topics were discussed at the Summit:

1. New technologies - new risks and control methods. How to manage technological risks in new conditions.

2. Formats of customer-supplier relations in IT projects.

3. Innovation and conservatism in banking. How to take risks and avoid risks at the same time.

4. How to keep up with competitors in the face of the constant emergence of technological innovations.

On the first day, the plenary session was opened by Anatoly Aksakov, Chairman of the Association of Regional Banks of Russia and Deputy of the State Duma of the Russian Federation. He spoke about how he sees the prospects for the development of the Russian banking sector in the coming years. He spoke about improving legislation in the financial sector and measures to develop a civilized financial and credit market.

Gabbas Kazhimuratov touched upon the topic of foreign investments in banks and companies in Russia. And Peter Farley showed the main market trends that banks are guided by in 2012 when investing.

The participants of the event discussed the law on the National Payment System. A presentation of the Zolotoy Korona and MasterCard project was shown: in June, the issuance of cards of these two brands will begin, which will be serviced by the infrastructures of both payment systems in the Russian Federation.

On the second day, experts talked about technological innovations for the banking business. On the third day, they talked about the automation of banking.
