Due to the difficult situation in Ukraine and the withdrawal of Crimea to Russian territory, Ukrainian banks suspend operations on the territory of the Crimea peninsula and the city of Sevastopol. Among them is PrivatBank. Depositors stopped receiving their money invested in deposits, and there is practically no chance of receiving it.
Is it possible to return the money invested?
In case of early termination of the deposit agreement in the branch on the continental part of Ukraine, great patience will be required, because banks are reluctant to close deposits and lose a client. New conditions will be offered, including high interest rates, promotions, bonuses, etc. It is also possible that a postponement of termination of the contract, an extension of the terms will be offered. You should be patient with all the circumstances and leave an application for cash withdrawal in 3-7 days so that the bank prepares a certain amount of money. If the deposit was made in national currency, this will reduce half of the problems with their withdrawal, because foreign currency is in short supply. The bank employee will recalculate the interest and give the total amount.
Normative base
According to the decree of 06.05.2014, No. 260, Russia is liable for deposits on the territory of Crimea in case of default by Ukrainian banks. For this purpose, the Fund for Guaranteeing Deposits of the Russian Federation is intended; it covers expenses within the framework of the legislatively established amount of 700 thousand rubles.
Since May 2014, the Fund has been paying compensation for deposits of Crimean clients of the Ukrainian PrivatBank. The money is transferred to the account of the Black Sea Development and Reconstruction Bank (Black Sea Bank for Development and Reconstruction) or RNKB (Russian National Commercial Bank). All transfers for such operations are commission-free.
Where to apply for compensation?
To receive compensation for a Crimean resident who has a deposit at PrivatBank or another Ukrainian bank, it is necessary:
1. Collect documents for the Fund: an identity document (passport), a certificate of assignment of an identification code, a certificate of a deposit account from a bank (which says about the state and savings);
2. Go to one of the banks that provide compensation: the Black Sea Bank (BSRD) or the RNKB.
3. Execute an agreement on the assignment of rights to claim deposits;
