One hundredth of a whole value is called a percentage. If this whole value is composed of several separate parts, then each of them can be measured in hundredths of the whole. The ratio of the values of these components will be called the percentage. Its practical calculation is not difficult and consists of several simple mathematical operations.
Instructions
Step 1
Find out which value to proceed from when calculating the value of one percent. For example, if a drug consists of two ingredients, the volumetric characteristics of which are known, then the whole should be considered the sum of these two known values and calculate the value of one percent, dividing this amount by one hundred parts. For example, if a ready-to-use paint contains eight hundred milliliters of paint itself and four hundred milliliters of solvent, then one percent will be expressed as twelve milliliters, since (800 + 400) / 100 = 12.
Step 2
Find the percentage of each of the compared values by dividing the value of each of the constituent integer values by the size of one percent calculated in the previous step. For example, the volume of paint in the solution from the example in the previous step will be approximately 67 percent, since 800/12 = 66.6666667. And the volume of the solvent from the same example will be approximately 33 percent, since 400/12 = 33, 3333333. These two digits and will express the percentage of the components that make up the ready-made solution.
Step 3
Use, for example, the software calculator built into the Windows operating system for calculations, if it is not possible to calculate the values in your head. You can open this application through the standard program launch dialog by calling it by pressing the win + r key combination.
Step 4
In the dialog, you need to type the command calc and click on the "OK" button. The calculator's interface is extremely simple, and the sequence of several division and multiplication operations described in the previous steps is unlikely to cause any difficulty.
