The Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia, in an effort to strengthen control over the activities of security companies and improve the quality of services provided, has tightened the requirements for obtaining permits giving the right to work in security. On January 1, 2011, these requirements came into force, which made it more difficult and financially burdensome to obtain a license.

Step 1
A citizen of the Russian Federation who has reached the age of 18 and has no criminal record can become a private security guard. Those wishing to work in security structures first need to visit the department of licensing and permitting activities in the district police department at the place of registration. There, specify what documents are needed to obtain a license because uniform requirements are not spelled out in the legislation.
Step 2
Further, the future security guard will have to go through a medical commission, where experts will assess you on the degree of suitability for work in security. In case of successful completion of the commission, consisting of 4 doctors, you will receive a corresponding certificate. This certificate is the path to admission for the right to work with weapons. It is not worth buying a medical certificate for the money, in the future this may lead to the loss of the right to work as a security guard. You will also need to undergo a mandatory fingerprinting procedure, i.e. get fingerprints.
Step 3
Having collected all the necessary documents, you can start choosing a school for security guards. The main condition is that the school must have a license to train security guards. Otherwise, you will be wasting your time and money. The cost of education in different schools can vary significantly. Also, the price depends on what qualification grade you want to get: the higher the grade, the higher the cost. A high rank in the long term makes it possible to receive a large salary for work.
Step 4
After completing the course and successfully passing the exams at the school, you will receive a certificate of completion and a diploma. After that, you pass the exam to the police officers. Based on its results, you will be awarded one of four qualifying categories. On the exam, you need to demonstrate knowledge of the theoretical and practical part of security activities. You will also need knowledge of the rules for working with weapons and special tools. After receiving a security guard certificate, you have the right to start looking for work in security structures.
