So, if a woman is expecting one child, 70 days before the expected birth and 70 days after them will be included in the sick leave. In this case, the sick leave will include 140 days. In case of multiple pregnancies, the sick leave will include 84 days before the date of the expected birth and 110 days after birth. Total 194 days. In the event of complications - premature birth or surgery, the first sick leave in the medical institution will be issued with another one, according to which the period of maternity leave will increase by another 16 paid days.

The amount of maternity benefits depends on the amount of the woman's average earnings over the past two years (When calculating the average earnings, it does not include the payment of sick leave that the woman had during this time). For pregnant full-time students, maternity is calculated based on the amount of their scholarship, for women serving in the ranks of the armed forces, at customs, in institutions of the penal system, on the basis of their monetary allowance.

At the same time, Russian legislation provides for the minimum and maximum size of maternity benefits. The basis for the calculation is the earnings for the last two years, and this amount does not include the funds paid to the social insurance fund. To calculate the average daily earnings, you need to divide by 730 days.

The amount of maternity "vacation pay" should not exceed 266,384 rubles, and if the employee did not have work experience before or the earnings were below the minimum wage, then the allowance will be 19,930 rubles. Work experience in such cases must be more than six months.
