Remember, you probably had situations when a torn bill was found in your wallet. And if earlier it could be changed only in the branches of the Savings Bank and only after an appropriate examination, now all credit organizations are obliged to do this, i.e. commercial and state banks.

Instructions

Step 1

But you should not flatter yourself. In some cases, you may be refused an immediate exchange of a torn bill, for example, if it is very worn out or the cashier has doubts about its authenticity. In such a situation, the torn bill will be accepted for examination and only after it will a decision be made about the possibility of exchange.

Step 2

Remember that the bank must change the banknote or accept it for examination if it has retained at least 55% of its area, i.e. you can bring for exchange not a whole bill, but only a part of it. If you yourself glued a bill from several fragments belonging to one banknote, then it will also be exchanged. But again, the conditions must be met - one of the fragments must be at least 55% of the area of the bill.

Step 3

You can exchange at any credit institution two parts of a bill belonging to different banknotes of the same denomination, if each of them has at least 50% of the original area and differs from the other in its graphic image. In other words, you will be exchanged for a bill consisting of two halves of different banknotes.

Step 4

In addition, you are required to exchange not only torn bills, but also discolored and glowing in ultraviolet light, but only if these are not banknotes drenched in dyes to prevent theft. Defective banknotes are also subject to exchange at the cash desks of credit institutions. These include paper money that is longer or shorter than the established samples, as well as punctures and other manufacturing defects.

Step 5

In order to exchange a torn bill, contact any bank that works with individuals. Instead of the damaged banknote, you will be given a new one of equal denomination. At the same time, you can exchange an unlimited number of notes of any denomination. The bank does not charge a commission for such a service. If a commercial bank refuses to exchange you, you can safely file a complaint with the territorial branch of the Central Bank.
