Opening a store is quite simple, but making it successful is not an easy task. Many entrepreneurs are closing their outlets before they even stay afloat for a year. How to avoid the most common mistakes, how to attract customers and get the most profit from the store?
Instructions
Step 1
Get around the competition. Go to every store that sells the same product as yours and look at a competitor's business first from the eyes of a simple buyer, and then from a professional point of view. Pay attention to the placement of goods, the appeal of staff, if the store is grocery, then to the presence of low-quality goods. You can take the most, in your opinion, unnecessary product and see the expiration date. If it is a clothing salon, then the quality of the product is even easier to determine.
Step 2
Look at the prices. Analyze how buyers relate to these prices. The area in which you opened a store should also be carefully examined. Just walk down the street, what do you see? A huge number of expensive foreign cars near every house at lunchtime or no cars at all. What are the houses in the area? Are these elite new buildings or dilapidated two-story buildings, in which there is not a single Euro-window? In the first case, it is worth opening a more expensive store, because the people living in the area are well off. They can afford the best. In the second case, people are more in need of an economy class store, where prices are below market prices.
Step 3
Check the goods yourself. Now you can't afford to miss. We only need responsible suppliers who supply quality products on time. A bad supplier can fail at the most inopportune moment, and buyers do not forgive mistakes.
Step 4
Pay attention to the staff who are hiring. Salespeople and managers should be polite, courteous, and clean. Sloth is immediately evident and disliked. It is better to spend money on training sellers than to lose buyers.
Step 5
Contact a professional merchandiser to arrange a product display. Believe me, a properly laid out product increases sales several times.
Step 6
There should be enough room in the store so that shoppers don't crowd and knock each other off their feet. It is better to rent a room with a larger area. The most important thing is that there are no leaking ceilings and shabby walls. Make repairs, agree with the landlord to give you a discount.
Step 7
Attract customers by any means: launch a commercial on local television, order banners on city billboards, hire ad posters, distribute Lithuanian coins, leave business cards, create a business card website on the Internet. And most importantly, don't forget that live ads are the best. If your store is really good, then every customer who comes through the primary advertisement will become a regular customer himself and bring 10 friends with him.
