The problem of counterfeit banknotes has been troubling both banks and ordinary people throughout the history of money. And in the context of the economic crisis, the number of cases of detection of counterfeit money has increased significantly. And, no matter how paradoxical it may sound, the fact remains: the higher the degree of security of banknotes, the better quality counterfeits are made. Nevertheless, it is necessary to know the main distinguishing features of banknotes in order to be able to recognize counterfeit from real money.
Instructions
Step 1
If you doubt the authenticity of a banknote, put a similar one next to it, this method will easily help to detect a counterfeit when comparing two equivalent banknotes.
Step 2
Next is the watermark. In genuine money, it is visible only in the light (a special image and denomination of the bill), in fake money, it can be seen from any other angle. It seems that it is not at all "watery" and not inside the banknote, but drawn with a pencil on its surface. When translucent, the sign very often does not coincide with the image on the bill, which it should duplicate.
Step 3
Pay attention to the paper, try it to the touch - real money is rough, counterfeit, on the contrary, is smooth, because it is printed on a regular inkjet printer. If a drop of water hits such a banknote, the paint will immediately "flow", besides, shedding of paint on the fold and along the edges will be noticeable, the lack of clarity of lines.
Step 4
The inscription "BANK OF RUSSIA TICKET" is no longer an indicator of authenticity when touched, counterfeiters manage to create this feature by special pressing of paper in certain places.
Step 5
The following differences are: metallized thread, color-shifting ink and micro-perforation. Only modified banknotes have a two-millimeter thread coming out from the reverse side in five flashes, merging into a solid line in the light. On counterfeit money, "stitches" are drawn with ink, varnish, silver paint, they do not form a continuous line in the light.
The color-shifting dye should change from crimson to golden green. In cases of fake, cracked paint is noticeable, which shimmers in other shades.
Microperforation (designation of a banknote in numbers) in genuine money is smooth, in counterfeit money it is rough on one side (due to holes punctured by a needle).
Step 6
Colored fibers that go into the thickness of the paper on real money luminesce in certain colors (red and yellow-green glow). In fake, such fibers are, as it were, glued to the surface, they can be easily removed with a needle and, in some cases, give a poisonous green glow in UV.
Step 7
Moire patterns (rainbows) are very difficult and expensive to counterfeit.
The value of the protective properties of money is not so much the difficulty in counterfeiting, as the ability for any person to determine their authenticity with the naked eye.
