A department is an officially approved governing body for a certain area of an organization. They are created by the personnel department on the initiative of the head. But how to name the created unit correctly so that the name reflects its essence?
Instructions
Step 1
Decide what kind of unit you need in terms of scale. Call the structure "management" if the department manages the organization and is responsible for the performance of individual areas of the enterprise. This is usually the name given to divisions of large firms or government agencies. Smaller structural units are subject to management.
Step 2
Call the structure "department" if you want to name a large subdivision of a medical organization or a customs government agency, its separate part. Also call a branch of a division in the banking sector in a geographic division.
Step 3
Name a unit structured by industry and function as a “department”. The department, like the management, is responsible for the individual areas of the organization's activities. Create a department in representative offices of foreign companies and in enterprises with a Western management model.
Step 4
Call a unit a "department" if it will be responsible for the organizational and technical support of specific areas of the enterprise.
Step 5
Call a department a "service" if it includes structural units that are united by their functions and have similar goals and objectives. Please note that the service is centrally managed by one person. Also call the department responsible for the safety of the enterprise or the department for labor protection as a service.
Step 6
Name the unit "bureau" if its activities are more paperwork or reference work.
Step 7
Call manufacturing units “workshops” or “workshops” / “laboratories” to help maintain production.
Step 8
Divide the main divisions into smaller ones and call them a "sector" for a time division, a "section" - for a conditional division, in which work is consolidated geographically, and a "group" - when specialists are united to perform a specific task.
