Step 1
Select the currency authenticity detector that you intend to use. There are several types of detectors, each with its own characteristics, advantages and disadvantages. Ultraviolet counterfeit detection devices are very common. In addition, they can be used to verify the authenticity of passports, education certificates, driver's licenses, credit cards, securities, etc. Consider, for example, the rules for using the popular PRO-4 detector.
Step 2
Place the appliance on a table or other comfortable level place. Visually inspect the detector to make sure there are no visible hull and operating part defects
Step 3
Connect the device to the mains and set the switch on the front of the case to the "on" position. The UV fluorescent lamp will light up.
Step 4
Take the banknote to be checked, place it on the working area of the device and examine it carefully. Under ultraviolet light, the paper should not glow, but there should be a glow of special luminescent marks that are invisible in natural light.
Step 5
If a banknote is counterfeit, made using ordinary ("non-bank") white paper, then it will give out a characteristic bright glow. However, the same glow is given by a genuine bill that has been in an aggressive environment. Therefore, if in doubt, before making a final decision on the authenticity of a bill, carry out an additional check using other available methods.
Step 6
If a counterfeit bill is made of poor quality paper, for example, newsprint or blotting paper, it will not glow, but it will not give a high-quality image of details and micro-relief. In this case, remove the bill from circulation.
Step 7
Pay attention also to the visibility of the watermarks. Real signs are practically invisible in ultraviolet light, and fake ones are visible quite well.
Step 8
Use the detector to check the authenticity of banknotes for no more than 8 hours in a row. Otherwise, overheating of the body of the device and the UV lamp may occur.
