Due to their ease of use, plastic bank cards have become widespread. The largest bank in Russia is Sberbank, so it is its cards that are most in demand.
Instructions
Step 1
To order a bank card, contact any branch of Sberbank of Russia. Indicate which card you want to receive - credit or debit. Credit allows you to use more funds than there is on the card, but you are obliged to return the money to the bank within the period specified in the agreement. If you do not do this on time, you will be penalized, and in the end you will have to return much more than you borrowed. A debit card is safer in this sense - you can only dispose of the money that you have deposited into your account.
Step 2
Select the type of card you need. Sberbank issues cards of the two most popular payment systems - Visa and MasterCard. If you only need a card to transfer your salary to it, you can choose Visa Electron or MasterCard Maestro cards. These cards are the cheapest and most popular, the cost of their annual service is about 300 rubles. You can use them both in Russia and abroad.
Step 3
If you often travel abroad, you should get a higher level card - Visa Classic or MasterCard Standard. These cards are better protected, and it will be easier for you to use them abroad due to the fact that these types of cards are supported by a large number of ATMs and points of sale. The cost of the annual service for such a card will be approximately 1000 rubles per year.
Step 4
There are also more expensive cards - for example, Visa Gold and MasterCard Gold. They are usually received by those for whom status is important. These types of cards have additional features, their holders receive various bonuses and discounts in retail outlets around the world. But the cost of servicing such a card is also higher.
Step 5
After you select the card you need, a Sberbank employee will write down your passport details and cell phone number. After that, you will have to wait one to two weeks for your card to be produced. When receiving it, be sure to activate the "Mobile Bank" service, this will allow you to always be aware of all transactions performed on your card.
Step 6
During the receipt and activation of the card, you will be given a sealed envelope with the pin code of your card. The PIN code is a four-digit security code required to confirm that you are the cardholder. In particular, the PIN code must be entered when withdrawing money from an ATM. Never, under any circumstances, tell anyone this code. Do not write it down on the card - in case of loss, the person who found the card can easily use it and withdraw all your money. Remember the pin code, and keep the envelope in a safe place, excluding unauthorized access to it.
