Many people are interested in financial news today. Information about changes in stock prices, the results of daily trading, as well as large fortunes acquired by successful brokers form an opinion about foreign exchanges as high-tech and ultra-modern trading platforms where you can make great money. However, operations on the MICEX are no less profitable, and the trading process itself looks impressive.
After the merger at the end of 2011 of two Russian stock exchanges - MICEX and RTS - a new structure was formed, which was named OJSC Moscow Exchange. Almost immediately, it became the leader in terms of trading volumes and the number of clients working on it. Today the Moscow Exchange is one of the twenty largest world exchanges and annually improves its positions in various ratings.
The unified MICEX-RTS exchange trades currencies, securities, options, futures, shares of exchange-traded funds, gold and other financial instruments. Credit organizations, stock intermediaries and private investors who carry out their activities through brokers can work on this exchange.
How does the exchange work?
The main work on the exchange is concentrated in data centers, where there is powerful server hardware and software necessary to conduct and record transactions. Users send orders for transactions via the Internet using trading terminals. Through exchange gateways, they enter the exchange's trading system and simultaneously record it into its database.
Great attention is paid to the security of trading and the exclusion of the possibility of theft, loss or damage of data. Each transaction carried out in the trading system must be certified with an electronic signature (ES) of the trading participant, which is embedded in the trading programs of brokers.
How do I trade securities?
The domestic securities market is designed in such a way that individuals are not able to trade directly on the MICEX. Only stock brokers can carry out transactions with securities on their behalf. These are professional securities traders who act on the exchange on behalf of their clients. According to our legislation, brokerage activities are subject to licensing, so the risk of entrusting your savings to an illiterate broker is low.
To buy or sell any securities on the MICEX, you need to choose a brokerage company and conclude a service agreement with it. After that, a special trading program will be installed on your computer, with the help of which you can monitor the current price of securities. If you decide to buy or sell any stocks or bonds, you need to draw up an order for your personal broker. It can be sent by phone, sent by e-mail or fax.
After the broker receives an order for a securities transaction, he will send a corresponding order to the exchange and complete the transaction. The securities become the property of the investor and are recorded in a special depository account. Profit or loss from a transaction is calculated as the difference between the selling and buying prices of the security minus the commission paid to both the MICEX and the broker.
