When traveling around the country, it is not very convenient to carry with you a whole package of documents just in case, which you may not need at all. Yes, and being in your city, many issues that previously required a personal presence in various instances can now be resolved without leaving your home. For this, a universal electronic card (UEC) has been developed.

What is UEC

Currently, while the project is at the initial stage of development, the universal electronic card combines the functions of a payment instrument and an identity card, although it does not replace a passport. It contains information about a person's personal data, including full name, pension insurance certificate number (SNILS), data of the OMS medical insurance policy; in addition, at the request of the citizen, his individual taxpayer number (TIN), information on benefits can be entered on the card.

As a means of identifying the cardholder's identity, his electronic digital signature (EDS) is used. With it, you can access various state, municipal and even commercial services electronically from your home computer in full. Among other things, you can receive information from the pension fund, tax service, traffic police, receive state and municipal services, pay utility bills, get a coupon for an appointment with a doctor, and much more.

Among other things, UEC can be used as a regular bank card. When a universal card is produced, a bank account will be automatically opened for you. Since the authorized organizations for receiving applications and issuing UEC are usually branches of a bank, the account will be opened in the bank where you apply for UEC. A universal electronic card can also be issued for a child.

What you need to get UEC

Collect the necessary package of documents: passport of a citizen of the Russian Federation (birth certificate for citizens under 14 years old); OMS policy, SNILS certificate, TIN number if desired, certificate of benefits and other documents certifying the data that you would like to enter on the UEC.

Make a list of the applications that you plan to use - they will be added to your card. Identification and banking applications are mandatory federal applications. You can find out about additional regional applications on the UEC website of your region.

To find out where in your region you can get the UEC, go to the official (federal) site of the UEC, in the section "How to get the UEC" select "Service points", on top of the opened card in the special field enter your region. Choose the service point that suits you. To find out its exact address, click on the selected icon. To submit an application, you need to contact the selected branch in person, provide a package of documents and a list of your selected applications.

Depending on the number of applications for UEC in your region, the card will be made in a period from three weeks to six months. You will receive the card and the equipment necessary for its use (card reader) at the bank branch free of charge.
