First of all, to distinguish whether it is real money or not, you need to check the bill by touch. Thin strokes along the edges, the text "BANK OF RUSSIA TICKET" have a raised relief that is easily perceived by touch.

Further, a bright shiny horizontal stripe, which can be seen at a right angle, will help to distinguish a real thousand rubles from a fake one. When the banknote is tilted, this strip begins to move from the middle of the coat of arms up or down.
On a real banknote, on a fragment of a security thread that comes out on the front side in a curly-shaped window, one can observe either repeating images of the number “1000”, separated by small rhombuses, or an iridescent sheen without an image.
When a real banknote is tilted, yellow and blue stripes appear on a single-color green field, which are a continuation of the colored stripes that are constantly observed in the dark area in the lower part.

Then, to distinguish real money from fake money, you can check the bill by looking at it through the light. In a real bill, the half-tone watermark on the right side of the front side is supplemented with a light watermark, which has lighter areas compared to paper.
On the reverse side of the banknote, where the security thread, you can see the dark repeating numbers "1000" separated by rhombuses. If the bill is enlightened, then these numbers and diamonds appear light on a dark background.

Further, in order to check whether the bill is real, you need to increase it. On the ornamental ribbons at the top and bottom of the front side of the banknote there are lines with microtext, which can be seen only when magnified. This microtext is often not drawn on counterfeit banknotes.

Finally, the quality of the paper on which they are printed can also distinguish a counterfeit bill from a real one. The material from which modern money is made is multi-component and multi-layered. Counterfeit money is almost always printed on plain paper.
