In modern life, sometimes it becomes necessary to determine the exchange rate of a currency, when only its relationship to the quotes of other currencies is known. The required indicator can be calculated using cross-rates.
Instructions
Step 1
The cross-rate is calculated for those foreign currencies that do not have direct quotes in relation to, for example, the Russian ruble. This unknown can be, for example, the Argentine peso. Its rate is not set daily by the Central Bank of Russia, but is calculated by a mathematical method based on the quotation of another currency.
Step 2
In order to find out how many rubles you need to pay for one peso, you need to select the currency through which all calculations will be made. The simplest and most obvious choice is the US dollar, this currency is bought and sold in all countries of the world, so that the value of any currency can be expressed in it. In addition to the US dollar, it is convenient to use the Euro rate.
Step 3
Currency rates change daily, so you need to find information about the Argentine peso against the dollar and the ruble against the dollar for one specific date. For example, the peso / dollar rate as of 2011-06-09 was 4.4333. That is, to buy 1 US dollar, you need to pay 4.43 pesos. The ruble exchange rate was 29, 3436 on the same date, that is, one dollar costs 29 rubles 34 kopecks.
Step 4
Now, by some simple reasoning, compare that one dollar is simultaneously worth 4, 4333 Argentine pesos and 29, 3436 Russian rubles, that is, these values are equal to each other. Use currency symbols to avoid confusing which currency has which multiplier.
4, 4333 ARS = 29, 3436 RUB.
Put this data in different parts of the same equation and divide everything by the peso factor. You will receive that 1 Argentine peso costs 6, 6189 rubles, that is, 6 rubles 62 kopecks.
Step 5
In order to understand how much a peso is worth 1 ruble, you need to divide both sides of the equation by 29, 3436. Thus, for 1 ruble you need to pay 0, 151082 pesos, or in other words, 100 Russian rubles costs 15 Argentine pesos and 11 centavos.
