Since real money appeared in circulation between people, counterfeits have appeared since then. Money has been counterfeited at all times, but never in such quantities as now. Modern technology makes it possible to produce high quality counterfeits in any quantity. Let's consider the general signs by which you can distinguish a fake Russian bill from a real one.
Instructions
Step 1
First, pay attention to the watermarks. They are available on all Russian banknotes, regardless of their denomination. And although counterfeiters learned to counterfeit watermarks long ago, these marks on modern money are difficult to imitate. They are called halftone watermarks. The principle lies in the smooth tonal transition of watermarks from a lighter shadow to a darker one. On counterfeit ones, as a rule, this transition is abrupt and can be easily determined by comparing a real bill and a counterfeit one.
Step 2
Secondly, look at a security metal thread - a strip running in shiny dashed lines across a Russian banknote of any denomination. It is solid, but embedded in the bills so that it passes both inside the paper layer of the bill and outside. This can be seen by looking at the bill at the light. Counterfeiters imitate this strip either by gluing regular aluminum foil with the same dotted line, or by applying silver paint. If you look at such a bill in the light, then in most cases you will not see a solid line.
Step 3
Third, pay attention to microperforation - another way to protect Russian money from counterfeiting. A lot of small holes are applied on the banknotes with a laser, which are visible to the eye, like a drawing of the denomination of the banknote on which they are applied. Counterfeiters often imitate microperforation by piercing bills with needles. If you run your finger along the bill in this place, then such a surface feels rough to the touch. There are no roughness on the real bill.
Step 4
Fourth, slide your finger over the inscription "BANK OF RUSSIA TICKET" on this bill. You will notice that this is an embossed image. It is also present at the corners of the bills in the form of embossed dots and stripes made for visually impaired people.
Step 5
Fifth, pay attention to the security fibers applied to the banknotes. They should be located not only along the surface of the bill, but also in its thickness. Counterfeiters apply, as a rule, only external imitation of fibers.
Step 6
Sixth, take a magnifying glass and look at the structure of the paints applied to the real bill. This structure is a single whole, in contrast to counterfeits made on inkjet or laser copying equipment. If you look at such fakes at magnification, you will see either dots or crumbs of toner.
Step 7
Purchase one of the so-called currency detectors for sale. With the help of these electronic devices, you can quickly check the authenticity of banknotes.
