The problem of selling a pencil is used in interviews when hiring sales personnel. The pencil is a simple object, so the subject cannot praise its excellent qualities. To immediately sell a pencil to someone in the interview, you need to come up with something original.
Instructions
Step 1
Find out something about the interlocutor. You can ask about children, work, business, vacation. The topic of the conversation is not that important. A stranger sits in front of you and watches as you sell a pencil. And you seem to have forgotten about the pencil. Ask the person questions, but remember that closed-ended questions require a short answer - yes or no. And you need to get your interlocutor talking. Ask in such a way as to avoid monosyllabic answers on his part.
Step 2
Find out the problems. Be polite, assent, nod your head, show a sincere interest in the life of your interlocutor. Tell something similar from your life, but don't get too carried away. The purpose of the conversation is to find out what problems the person has.
Step 3
Ask what would happen if the problems were solved. This question can be expressed in different words, gradually. The interlocutor in the course of the conversation may not guess where you are leading. Your task is to get the person to talk so that he says what is important to him. When he says it out loud, then he convinces himself that he is right. You do not impose anything, you do not sell anything.
Step 4
Figure out how to solve problems with a pencil. This is where thinking outside the box is needed. The pencil can be tied to any problem. You just need to figure out how to do it. Keep this goal in front of you throughout the conversation. The clearer the picture is for you, the better questions will appear to the interlocutor and the more detailed he will tell about everything, feeling interested.
Step 5
Suggest a solution without giving the price of the pencil. The person himself voiced the problem, confirmed its importance. It is logical that he will be curious about your proposal. This will smoothly translate the conversation into pencil.
