In a small business, the role of HR manager is often played by a manager or employee of another profile. To select an employee, you should know the basic requirements that you will place on candidates.
What is the ideal candidate? Make a generalized social and professional portrait of your future employee: desired gender, age, education, work experience in the profession, availability of special skills or abilities. Identify all the priority points in the "ideal employee", and where you agree to give up. For example, it is sometimes easier to take a person who has the necessary skills, but has not previously worked in his specialty. It is easier to train such a person according to his specific activity.
Personal qualities. Highlight the main personal qualities required to work in this position: leadership qualities, stress resistance, sociability, determination, responsibility.
Professional quality. Determine what minimum mandatory professional qualities a candidate for the position should have: level of computer skills, knowledge of special programs, work with office equipment, business writing skills, natural literacy, organizational skills.
Criteria for evaluating a candidate. Develop the criteria that will be used to make decisions about inviting a candidate for an interview, as well as a short interview plan. Note what questions should be asked to the candidate and what should be clarified with him. Think about who you need to involve to interview the candidate jointly.
Postwork with the candidate. Consider the procedure for informing the candidate about the results of the interview. Be sure to indicate the time frame in which you will give your decision. If the interview is planned in several stages, be sure to clarify this when you invite for an interview.
