A depositor planning to close an account with Sberbank and withdraw money has two options at his disposal. The first is to go to the bank in person. The second is to close the deposit through the Sberbank-online Internet service system.
When to close a deposit
Perpetual deposits (“On demand”, “Universal”) can be closed on any working day at the bank's office. Through Sberbank-online it is possible at any time.
If you want to withdraw all the money from a term deposit, consider the following.
- The balance of the term deposit should be withdrawn on the last day of its validity. This date is always spelled out in the agreement that the depositor enters into with the bank when opening a deposit. If the last day of the deposit is a day off, wait for the onset of the working day and go for funds.
- If you close a deposit remotely, do it “day in day”.
- If the client does not take the money on the designated day, the deposit will be extended (prolonged). Despite this, money can still be withdrawn without any loss. Income for "extra" days will be charged at a low rate "On demand", if the contract does not provide for other conditions.
How to terminate a deposit in a bank office

How to close a deposit using the "Sberbank-online" system
To close a deposit in Sberbank via the Internet, you need to have a current or card account with the same credit institution. Or another deposit that can be replenished. It can be opened in the same "Sberbank-online" immediately before closing the old deposit.
The actual closing of the deposit is done as follows:
- Go to your personal account of the Sberbank-Online system. Select "Deposits and Accounts" in the service menu.
- Find the deposit you are closing and click the "Operations" button opposite its name. In the drop-down list, select "Close Deposit".
- The system will offer to fill out a small application. Here indicate the account where the bank should send money from the closed deposit. Fill out the application and send it by clicking the "Close" button.
- At the next step, the bank will offer to check the previously entered details. Information will also appear at what rate the bank will charge interest. If you disagree or change your mind, click the "Cancel" button. If you entered incorrect details, select "Edit". If everything suits you, confirm your intention to terminate the deposit by clicking the "Confirm" button.
- The bank will send you a one-time SMS password. Enter it in the special free field and submit.
- After that, Sberbank will close the deposit and transfer funds to the account you previously selected.
