You can open a US bank account even if you do not have local citizenship. Many of the visiting students, foreigners and diplomats who are not US citizens are in need of this service. What needs to be done for this?

Instructions
Step 1
Check first the list of countries that are considered hostile under the laws of the Office of Foreign Assets Control. This is the department of the US Treasury Department that imposes sanctions and implements foreign policy. If the party wishing to open an account is on the list of hostile countries, you will not be able to open a bank account in the United States.
Step 2
Prepare all documents proving your identity. Once you find out that citizens of your country are allowed to open their own account, collect all business papers in one folder. Most banks require at least two copies of the applicant's passport with a clear photo of the applicant, information on paying taxes and several additional documents for final confirmation of identity.
Step 3
Go to the bank of your choice. In the aftermath of the September 11, 2001 terrorist attacks, anyone who is not a US citizen is unable to open a bank account online. You must visit the bank of your choice and personally sign the required documents.
Step 4
Fill out all the forms provided to you. Make sure you fill out the questionnaires for your US bank account properly so that there is no risk of rejection. Avoid typing mistakes as much as possible. But even if you made a typo, you can request an additional copy to make the necessary corrections.
Step 5
Make a deposit. Just as with opening any regular bank account, you will have to make an initial deposit in order to open it. What initial payment is required in this case will depend on the bank itself.
Step 6
Wait until the bank checks all the documents to issue its verdict. Processing of bank documents can take from 2 to 5 business days. You will be allowed to receive documents for opening an account by mail in case of temporary residence in the United States, or you can personally pick them up at the office on the specified date.
