The TN VED code is a universal method for classifying goods transported through customs. This cipher code consists of ten digits, each of which is important because it describes the product, the group to which it belongs, the material from which it is made, and other data. Determination of the TN VED code is an important operation on which the success of the activity largely depends.

It is necessary

  • - export declaration of the seller;
  • - Commodity Nomenclature of Foreign Economic Activity;
  • - normative documents;
  • - an agreement with a customs broker.

Instructions

Step 1

Ask the seller of the goods which TN VED code is indicated in his export declaration. If the international HS system operates in the country of the manufacturer from whom you are purchasing the goods, then the first six digits of the TN VED code for the goods you are importing must match. In practice, you may face a situation where the seller does not declare the exported goods, or the customs inspectors simply do not agree with the specified code.

Step 2

Try to independently understand the principles of product classification and determine the TN VED code. Carefully study the Commodity Nomenclature of Foreign Economic Activity: it has a tree-like structure, the top of which is "Sections". Each section title characterizes the industry that produces the goods or products you are importing. This is followed by "Groups", formed taking into account the raw materials from which the product is made, the degree of processing of the product, as well as the functionality of the product. Subheadings are then presented, followed by Subheadings and further detailed classification. You will be greatly helped by the "Notes", which contain "Sections" and "Groups": they indicate which goods can be classified in this category and which cannot.

Step 3

Get a classification decision from the Federal Customs Service. Your right to obtain this official permission is regulated by at least two regulatory documents: Order of the Federal Customs Service of the Russian Federation No. 951 dated 01.08. 2008, as well as by the Order of the State Customs Committee of the Russian Federation No. 388 of 23.04. 2001

Step 4

Use the services of a customs broker who will enter the TN VED code in the customs declaration. Be sure to conclude an agreement with this official, which would stipulate liability for incorrect classification of the goods.
