On May 31, 2012 Sergey Mavrodi announced the temporary suspension of payments to shareholders of the MMM-2011 financial pyramid and the launch of a new project MMM-2012. According to experts, the collapse of MMM-2011 has already occurred, but Mavrodi himself is not going to go underground and opens a new pyramid.
At the end of May, the well-known Russian swindler Sergei Mavrodi began another restructuring of his financial pyramid MMM-2011, launching a new project MMM-2012. Mavrodi said in a video message to depositors that a "calm" regime was introduced until June 15, as a serious and very large-scale panic began in the system. In fact, a two-week moratorium on the withdrawal of funds was introduced in MMM-2011, and after it, according to Mavrodi, payments will still be limited.
Sergei Panteleevich himself believes that the media are to blame for everything, spreading information about a new criminal case on fraud, and the introduction of restrictions is a necessity, since "there will not be enough money for everyone anyway." Mavrodi also officially announced the creation of a new financial pyramid project - MMM-2012 with the same conditions as the previous one, with the exception of the absence of bonus payments to beneficiaries. At the same time, both pyramids will operate in parallel, and part of the funds from MMM-2011 will be transferred to the new project. It is not yet known how stable the new pyramid will work. Currently, almost all "cells" of MMM-2011 have stopped payments to shareholders. There is no information if they will resume work under the new pyramid. So far, funds are accepted through the official website on the Internet on a voluntary basis. Police officers have repeatedly tried to prosecute Sergei Mavrodi himself in the framework of a criminal case opened by the Kolyvan district prosecutor's office. However, he was not able to deliver him to the Novosibirsk region for investigative measures, since Mavrodi's whereabouts are unknown. The creator of the pyramid himself in the video message does not comment on the situation in any way and urges his investors not to succumb to general panic.
